SVFK: 5-day course in textile printing with remazole dyes (reactive dyes)

Course description
With this course, you will gain a basic knowledge of printing with reactive colors, both practically and theoretically. The properties of Remazol dyes in relation to color mixing, chemical binding to textile materials, authenticity in relation to light and colour, environmental aspects and certification will be reviewed. We work with GOTS-certified dyes.
Based on various textile materials such as cellulose fibers (cotton, linen, hemp, viscose) and protein fibers (silk and wool), various printing and painting techniques are tested: frame printing, monoprint, watercolor technique and patination.
You will be introduced to photo transfer of a motif/pattern to a print frame, color mixing and color recipes. In addition, pre- and post-treatment, washing and preparation of textiles for printing, fixation of printed textiles, stretching of textiles on the printing table, etc.
After the course you will be in possession of:
- Practical experience with textile printing with Remazol colours
- Printing technical understanding of the possibilities the dyes have in interaction with different textile qualities
- Good prerequisites for working independently and further developing your own printed experiments
