Inter Arts Center (IAC) and the Danish Composers’ Society offer a residency programme at IAC for Danish composers and sound based artists who work with experimental music and/or sound based art. This is an open residency where artists can develop their own projects with sound as the focal point, based in the interdisciplinary environment at IAC.
Applicants may apply for residencies from 2 to 5 weeks, and there are two deadlines a year, in April and October. Artists in residency become an integrated part of an exceptional artistic environment, and can access the wide variety of technical facilities, studios and project space at IAC, as well as technical assistance. The residency includes a fixed travel and accommodation stipend (or contribution) of 5.000 DKK and a weekly working stipend of 5.000 DKK, for other residency/productions costs or as an artist fee.

HOW TO APPLY
Composers and sound based artists residing in Denmark or with a significant connection to the Danish music scene can apply for the Make Sound Residency.
Applicants need to describe the project they want to work with during the residency. In addition to a project description, we also need a motivation and elaboration on how to connect to the facilities and environment that IAC offers. On IAC’s website under ‘Facilities’ each studio and project space are presented, and here you can also find a list of all the equipment available at IAC
The length of the residency should also be specified, from 2 to 5 weeks.
The application must include a resume (CV), at least 2-3 examples of existing works and a presentation of the applicant’s artistic practice.
As this residency is financed by funds from Koda Kultur, you need to apply through Koda Kultur’s website. Open the application page here – kultur.koda.dk
WHAT WE FOCUS ON
The assessment will emphasize on the extent to which the individual project idea and the desired residency can help to develop new formats and approaches to experimental music as well as sound based art. We value all qualifying attempts to exceed and challenge the boundaries of what we normally associate with contemporary music and sound based art.
DEADLINES
Applications can be submitted twice a year with the deadlines on 1 April and 1 October.

All applications will be read and assessed by the Jury:
- Sine Tofte Hannibal, general manager of Danish Composers’ Society
