OPEN CALL – Summerworks. How about spending the summer in New York City with access to great printmaking facilities?

Art Hub Copenhagen is partnering with Bikuben Foundation New York and The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts to offer four Danish artists a residency in Manhattan for the month of July. The residency will include an individual apartment at the Academic Guest House located on the Upper West Side and access to facilities and a shared studio at The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in Midtown.

We are calling the residency Summerworks.

With Summerworks Art Hub Copenhagen wishes to emphasize its international approach and ambitions by connecting artists based in Denmark with a renowned US art institution and facilitating the emergence of new opportunities and ideas.

This residency is open for artists based in Denmark.

The residency includes:

• Travel expenses (flight to and from NYC)

• Accommodation at Academic Guest House

• 24-hour access to a shared 34 sqm studio

• A welcome to NYC reception

• Free access to the EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop

• A meeting space at The Elizabeth Foundation for the Art’s conference room

• Field trips and introduction to the New York art scene

• Studio visits with curators and critics

• Professional development seminars

The Academic Guest House is a charming townhouse on a quiet side street adjacent to Central Park with fully furnished and move-in ready apartments. As a resident at the Academic GuestHouse, you will have an individual apartment, but as you are sharing a house with others, it is important to be considerate of the collective setting. Please notice that the Academic Guest House do not provide accommodation for significant others, spouses or children.

The deadline to apply for Summerworks is the 22nd of April 2019. Replies can be expected within two weeks. Please write your application in English.

The applicants will be selected by a professional jury consisting of three professional artists with an expertise in graphic art and printmaking, a representative from Art Hub Copenhagen and one from The ElizabethFoundation for the Arts.

It is a requirement that the applicants have experience or interest in traditional printmaking techniques, and the jury will look for quality, originality and diversity among the selected applicants.
