Villa Eläintarha, artist residency in Helsinki

29.11.18 | Opslagstavle

Villa Eläintarha is an artist residency in a wooden villa in centre of Helsinki, next to Töölönlahti bay. The residency rooms at the villa are available for short terms production residencies (residencies that aim for a realisation or presentation of a piece of work in Helsinki). Minimum residency duration is 1 week, maximum 2 months.

Villa Eläintarha is maintained by HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme. HIAP does not provide production support for the projects, the support is provided by the organisations that invite the artists (festivals, galleries, museums, etc).

The residency is made possible with the support of City of Helsinki and is developed further in dialogue with the city.

Villa Eläintarha is located in Tokoinranta, near Töölönlahti bay. The vicinity of the bay and a peaceful park around the villa ensure a pleasant and quiet living environment. The busy Hakaniemi marketplace with shops and versatile transport connections is located only a five-minute walk from the villa. The main railway station is about a kilometre away and is easily accessible by foot.

The facilities in the villa offer residents a home-like environment. There are five individually decorated single rooms and four of the rooms also have a possibility for an extra bed.

Price of the rooms include bed linen and towels. The residents share a living room equipped with a television, two bathrooms with a shower, two toilets and a kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped so the residents can cook their meals. A washing machine and a dryer are also available to the residents.

It is currently possible to apply for residencies for year 2019. You can send us an application via an ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.
