05.08.24 | Residencies

The Danish Cultural Institute in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is looking for an Art or Design student to participate in a 10-day residency program, “SustainARTability,” scheduled from August 26th to September 6th, 2024. “SustainARTability” is organized by EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture, Riga Cluster*, in collaboration with the Art Academy of Latvia.

The program will take place in Riga, Latvia. Participants from several EU countries will engage in workshops and lectures, collaborate, and, under the guidance of mentors from the Art Academy of Latvia —Kristians Brekte and Ieva Stalsene—develop artworks for the exhibition “No White Flags.” The topic of sustainability is currently closely linked with activism, often involving public demonstrations, performances, posters, and slogans. In small groups, students will create artistic works or document their creative processes inspired by relevant everyday issues of sustainable living. The results will be showcased to the public at the closing event.

Travel, accommodation, and lunch will be covered by the organizers. Requirement – a potential candidate should be enrolled in an educational programme in Denmark in the field of arts and/or sustainable development. One candidate will be selected.

To submit your application, please prepare a short motivation letter (no more than 3000 characters), describing your study program and understanding of sustainability, and send it to Zanete Eglite, CCI Research and Development Advisor of the Danish Cultural Institute in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Deadline for submissions is flexible.
