In the old days, photographs were something you got to produce in expensive judgments at the photo dealer. And very few private individuals ever tried to make a film. Now it's different. Most of us have cameras that can record in fantastic quality built into our smartphone. And never have so many pictures been taken or so many films made as there are now. We bring images and films to social media and websites, and we use them in news media and books and in connection with teaching and research.
But photography and film also have a legal angle. It is important to be aware of, especially if you use photographs and films in a professional context.
