BKF Cultural Resources

BKF awards grants twice a year for a number of general purposes for the benefit of visual artists. The funds come from VISDA and Copydanforeninger, where 10% of the rights funds are set aside for cultural purposes.

Aske Thiberg and Signe Boe, the first two participants in a residency for newly trained visual artists, launched in 2019 by the exhibition venue Sydhavn Station, with the support of BKF's Committee for the Distribution of Cultural Resources

Support is provided for the following purposes:

  • Strengthening visual artists' legal and financial rights
  • Lawyer and accountant assistance in cases that professionally concern visual artists
  • Activities that promote visual artistic copyright nationally and internationally
  • Educational purposes, courses and continuing education
  • Conferences, seminars and meetings on subject-relevant topics
  • Other cultural purposes for the general benefit of visual artists

Funds are not awarded for general exhibition activities or for individual educational purposes, including study stays and travel grants.

How are the cultural funds distributed?

BKF has set up a standing committee to distribute the cultural funds. The committee consists of five members. Three members of the committee are elected by the BKF general assembly and board, and two members are appointed by the Academy Council.

The following people are currently appointed to the committee:

  • Klaus Pedersen (fund secretary)
  • Anette Højlund (Director)
  • Kasper Hesselbjerg (Academician)
  • Agnes Schyberg (BKF, GF election)
  • Hannibal Andersen (BKF, GF election)
  • Karen Land Hansen (Academician)

How do you apply for support for a project?

The committee does not use application forms, but applications must be a maximum of 4 pages and contain:

  • A justification for the application
  • A budget for both income and expenditure (financial plan)
  • Other relevant information and any attachments

Applications are processed at two annual meetings. The application deadline is 1 March and 1 September respectively.

Applications should be sent to bkf@bkf.dk.
