Project support for collaborations across the Nordic region

Twice a year you can apply for Project Support for projects that build on and develop collaborations across the Nordic region. Projects are also welcome to involve partners from other countries.

Project support is now open for applications with a deadline of 19 February 2024.

What is Project Support?

Project support is the Nordic Culture Foundation's contribution to stimulating the development of art and cultural life and strengthening the Nordic connections of various actors.

The originality of the projects and collaborations across the Nordic countries are highly valued, but we also welcome projects that reach beyond the Nordic region in various ways.

As a foundation, we are risk-averse, and we often support the establishment and development phases of new artistic and cultural initiatives and networks. The support can also be awarded to projects that are based on previous network formation or a previously completed project, if a clear further development and rethinking of the existing can be seen, and the foundation's support will have a clear relevance.

Cultural actors, artists, public and private organisations, associations etc. from all countries, regardless of nationality, can apply for project support.

You can apply for a maximum of DKK 500.000, but it is a good idea to form an impression of the typical size of the Nordic Culture Fund's support before you apply. The project must have at least 50% co-financing.

An open and curious approach

We work with an open and curious approach to the Nordics and take an interest in what is under development. As an applicant, you are therefore invited to inaugurate the fund in your perspective and approach to the meaning of the Nordic, and how your concrete project can contribute to creating meaningful contexts and connections in or with the Nordics.

Assessment criteria

Applications are assessed based on three overall criteria and based on the project's own context and context:

Artistic/cultural content and ambitions

The foundation assesses the project's artistic and/or cultural ambitions and content as well as its method and plan for implementation. Emphasis is placed on innovation and development, including in relation to any previous projects.

Nordic relevance and collaboration in the project

The foundation assesses the anchoring of relevant actors across the Nordic countries and the collaboration in the project: the importance of the project for the partners involved and their commitment to the project.

The foundation assesses the project's exploration of various aspects of the Nordics as well as its importance for the development of art and culture based on the scope and scope of the project. The Nordic aspect must take up more space in the project than a collaboration between two Nordic countries: The project must at least have a broader Nordic content or target group.

Relevant and realistic project economics

The foundation assesses the extent to which the budget is realistic and thoroughly worked out in relation to the project's content, as well as the extent to which the collaborative and Nordic ambitions are reflected in the budget. It is a requirement that min. 50% of the budget must come from sources other than the foundation. In total, income must consist of a maximum of 85% funding from the official Nordic cooperation (e.g. Nordic Culture Fund and Nordic Culture Contact).
